SALT BATH NITRIDING
Nitriding is a thermochemical treatment used on steels, whose function is to modify the properties on the surface of the components, by virtue of the diffusion of nitrogen and the generation of a layer of nitrides.
It is used to increase wear, corrosion and fatigue resistance. In many cases the Nitriding process is an alternative to other surface treatments such as hard chrome and cementing, obtaining a similar or superior quality.
As a result of the nitriding process
the steel acquires:
High hardness of the surface layer
High wear resistance
High fatigue resistance
High resistance to cavitation
High corrosion resistance
No deformation and modification in geometry
Low tendency to scratch
